Well, after that thing with the birth control vs. viagra yesterday, I guess I've been pissed off enough to be on childfree high alert today. I get home from work to find the usual 4 envelopes in the mailbox: one credit card offer and three charity solicitations.

One of the solicitations is from America's Second Harvest. In it there's a copy of a letter written by the matriarch of one of the families the charity has helped feed. She says "This is one way we can give back for all the food bank has done to help our family over the past 3 and 1/2 years. And they are still making a difference in our lives, today. When we're really in need, I still go to our local food pantry. I know I can count on them when I don't have enough food for my family.."

Then I read a little further:
"There's nine-year-old Jasmine, three-year-old Janina, and one-year-old Zosia."

And my CF high alert goes off screaming WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU DOING HAVING ANOTHER [expletive deleted] KID IF YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND COULDN'T FEED THE TWO YOU ALREADY HAVE YOU JACKASSES!?

Then the letter goes on about the terrible slum they had been living in. No kitchen, no hot water, rats knocking about, etc. SO YOU HAVE ANOTHER KID!?

GAAAAAAH!

Needless to say, I didn't send back a donation this time. What the hell was America's Second Harvest thinking using these people as an example?
