On NPR yesterday, they said that the gene for color is randomly expressed so the original cat could've been the same color as this one, but some other factor plays into it besides just the genes i.e. which one of the X chromosomes is going to contribute color. I assume that if a male cat had been cloned his coloration would be the same as the original since he would have only one X chromosome.
