On Roth, vs traditional IRA, most would go with the Roth. For you the IRA is tax deductible, which helps now, but then you will pay income taxes on distributions in retirement. For those in a low tax bracket, Roth is very attractive, especially if you expect those funds to grow substantially as investment income before you retire.

But the bottom line is, what will you do with the funds you save from income taxes if you invest in the deductible IRA? Will you invest them? Or will you spend them?

All these factors mean everyone must decide what is right in their circumstances.

Best of luck to you.
