Anyone have a good experience planning out how to get medical and dental insurance while R/E?

Anyone trying a mini-break while the job market stinks? In the current environment with unemployment insurance available for an extended period of time, does it make sense from a financial standpoint to consider a break or brief "consulting" period? Anyone tried to sell this to employers when returning to a standard-type job? How about looking at the same question from a "do it while you are still young" approach? Anyone tried a cost/benefit analysis of this question, as it really applies to me right now.

Anyone have a good experience downshifting to part time work while still doing interesting & challenging work? Travis McGee did it but salvage consulting is not for everyone ;-)

Anyone struggling with projected life expectancy, trying to guess if it will keep increasing at a similar rate or throwing up their hands like me and guestimating 100?

Anyone trying to figure out if a future 10% long-term estimate of returns from indexed stocks split 90% U.S. and 10% international continues to make sense? In other words, have the few years of low returns wrung out some of the excessive returns? How about a long tern return after inflation on equities of 6%? That last one is my personal guess.

Any good experience with national camping park systems or other less traditional, lower cost ways to "RE". Anyone try this with kids in school?
