One car family in a two car garage with one space filled with the usual lawn mower, tools, and trash/recycling. So car gets parked in the far space from the steps. In a right handed house, driver side door is next to the 2d car space with easy door opening and access to the steps. But left handed house, driver side is on the far side. Garage door must be open to walk around vehicle.

Why not park on the other side? Because steps makes that a smaller parking space.

I don't think that's really because of which side the garage is on - I think that's just how your house is setup.
My garage has 1 step down into it, and the right-hand side of the garage is slightly larger because of the workbench.
Either side I could have a car parked and be able to walk around all 4 sides of it. (Sometimes my parking job isn't that accurate, so it'd be a squeeze on one side or the other.)

Garage extension is right next to front door at edge of the porch. When greeting guests at the front door, it is most convenient to open door with your left hand and greet guests with your right. But in a left handed house, that is not possible. Door must be opened with right hand. Shaking hands requires a crossover maneuver.

That'd be whether your front door is LH or RH.
My garage is also on the left as you face the front door.
My neighbor's garage is on the right.
Both of our houses the front door has the knob on the right-hand side as you face it from the street. (which I think is the more common configuration, but I'm just going by a fairly small sample size)

If you really want to change your front door to open in the opposite direction of what it does now, I am sure you can buy a door and get it installed.
