One more thing.... you may contest it with the company, this is true- what they do is put what they call a "narrative code" next to the tradeline- indicating that the account is being disputed. the company has 30 days to respond to the dispute- if they do not respond then it is taken off your record. If they do dispute it then it remains WITH the narrative code which may also be considered a derogratory item. so, i would try to settle it BEFORE i disputed it if, even if it is a misunderstanding, they can, on paper, prove that you owe the money.
