One of the sad issues in all this suspicion and counter allegations of dishonesty in their true desire for peace is the fact that the Israeli's and the American's beleive any land for peace deal only moves forward the front line for a renewed round of terrorist attacks against Israel.
This sad fact will remain for as long as Arafat is unable to control Hamas and Hezbollah.
The real crime is not America's or Israel's but other Arab nations, and especially Iran, who hide behind their Muslim brothers in Palestine but do nothing effective to help them end their suffering.
For whilst Arafat is trying to talk peace the Iranians are busy loading ships of weapons for delivery to Palestinian terrorists. Fine lot of help that is to Arafat.
For whilst Arafat is under virtual house arrest Saudi Arabia calls for a State to be recognised all the while selling oil to the very same people they blame for blocking peace, the Americans. And at the same time the leader of Iran calls for Palestinians to reject the Saudi initiative and the Libyan leader states he will leave the Arab league of they approve the suggestion.
What we witness here in the Middle East time after time is each Country with their own agenda, either religious inspired as with Iran or simply mischeif making as with Iraq or Libya.
It is a shame upon them that they then go out and bemoan the suffering of the Palestinian peoples.
As all or most of these countries border Israel how can an Israeli leader adopt any kind of peace with Palestine when there is no common consensus upon which all of their neighbours, each of whom are "fighting" the Palestinian cause, can agree amongst themselves.
Until the Arab house is put in order there can never be a peaceful co-existence. The Arab nations need to show the neighbourhood what a beautiful dwelling they can construct and expose the Israeli shack for what it is. Only then can Israel be told to give their home a coat of paint in a colour called peace.
