One should not go to university or college if one needs to borrow in order to pay for it. I was a student from 1962 - 1967, and again from 1972-1976 without ever having to use student educational loans at all.

And how much was gas in those days? Around 35-40 cents a gallon? What do you pay for it these days? Maybe ten times as much?

Have you priced colleges these days? Do you know how much it costs? How many years would someone have to work, at near minimum wage (which has not risen as fast as the price of many other things), to save the many thousands of dollars necessary? Are you aware that many college textbooks cost more than a hundred dollars per book, and in many cases you can't buy used texts because the professors update them every couple of years?

kahuna, you are two generations out of step when it comes to costs. Come back and tell us when you have figured out a way for the vast majority of people to go to college for a total of two thousand a year. We'll be waiting.

Nancy
