One thing no one's mentioned is that if you were prepared to spend money on hotel, plane, car, or just gas, then you can use that budget to enjoy your home vacation. You could compromise and use a proportion of it and save the rest.

But that opens the door to things like take out every night. Or having a cleaning person come in once to tidy up--or at the end to get things back on a good footing. Or a fancy restaurant that in the normal course of life is deemed too pricey. Or a play or some local touristy thing you'd never do normally.

And yes, my ex was never interested in travelling. If I wanted to do it I had to arrange everything. That done, he'd pitch in, but I was still the social director. That's why I didn't always take the family or the whole family. I took each of my children separately to disneyworld--that was really special "us" time. And took a vacation occasionally on my own.

There are lots of ways to do this.
