You CAN get a car with bad credit. The only problems I see is high interest and requiring a good sized down payment.

So, you will easily have a few thousand to put down in February or March, provided you file your taxes early in the year.

That'a a definite thought. I'm really saving until I just can't fix the Mustang any more...I replaced the transmission this spring and it's still under warranty, so that's good. But basically I'm running my car till she jes cain't runs no mo', and then I want to have a cushion to help replace her. I do have a very friendly (and ethical, anyone in the Raleigh area needs a reputable mechanic let me know!) family friend mechanic who tends to know people who are selling running cars. Believe me, before I go to a dealership he'd be the first person I ask about a car. He's told me if I take good care of her, the Mustang should last me another two years. *crosses fingers* So I'll just keep hoping. But the tax return thing is a good idea, thanks! :)
