Subject: The term gap?

What is exactly meant by the term gap or filling the gap when they are looking at a chart of a stock? Thanks

Say a stock had an open price of $20, fell to a low of $19, had a high of $21 and finally closed at $20. The next morning the stock opens at $23. It has now gapped up $3. That's what a gap is, just a gap in the price bars.

The chart above shows a gap and then filling the gap in October of '99.

Nothing to analyze here!
