Our Prius is a 2002, 11 years old, one year off battery warranty. A new battery is nominally 4k. Toyota of America kicked in 1k coz we're so fine, and the dealer 1100, I think because we've gotten all of our service there since moving to SC.

It's the old style, trunk not hatchback, the on,y options we got wwe got were side air bags and singke CD player. Cloth seats, no poweer seats, no navigation system. In a private sale WITH a functional battery, prob worth 4-5k here. To sell ourselves, we'd have to delay our trip at least a week, and DH is opposed to that. We already lost a day to dealing with it. if this had happened last month, I would've argued in favor if putting int he battery and keeping or selling ourselves, but it's his decision anyhow.
