Our weekly meal out is under $30 (including tax and tip) for two... hardly Four Seasons.

I'm very impressed with a $88/week budget. Does your $350 a month include other consumibles such as soap, shampoo, etc? Or is it only groceries?

Maybe it is a regional thing. Do groceries bills vary much from region to region? Things tend to be more expensive where I live (Central Calif Coast). For example, gasoline is always at least 20-30 cents more per gallon than in Los Angeles or the Bay Area. Regular costs about $1.38 a gallon right now.

We never buy processed food, we uses coupons, and we avoids brand names.

This food budget also includes my work lunches since I brown bag 99% of the time.

In the 5 years I've been grocery shopping with my wife I've discovered a rule of thumb. The grocery carts have 3 metal "rings" between the bottom and the top. I've noticed that each ring costs $50 no matter what I buy. It never fails. If I fill the cart to the 2nd ring, it is about $100. Fill the cart to the 3rd ring, $150.
