Over the years, I gone with five year CD's in various banks around town and outta state, then I added several 5 and 10-yr treasury notes, laddered of course. Much safer in my estimation than buying into the stock/internet market and taking yer chances on something than might not be there next year (as has already happened). The old widows and orphans stocks - utilities are still paying well, but now starting to look shaky. Better to invest in the gas companies, the oil e&p's and makers of pumps and compressors.
