My husband died at the end of May. His company eventually sent a check for his accumulated vacation made out to the Estate of him with no withholding. I received a 1099-MISC for that amount with the recipient as just him, not the Estate of him.

The Estate consisted only of that money because everything else that was in his name was jt w/ rights of survivorship.

What is the best way to handle this ? (and preferably the lowest tax way)
