Paul,
We use a lot of oil to produce other forms of energy that could be produced by other means. That and lack of consistent conservation measures make the US a huge consumer. I am not a believer in just one way to reduce our consumption or an overnight solution, but it would be great if the entire country could maintain the same gallon level of consumption for several years while the country continues to grow.
I see no policies in place that will assist this, so I foresee a continued problem in the near future.
