Penn National Gaming, Partners Mull Bid For Harrah's -CNBC

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Penn National Gaming Inc. (PENN) is considering a bid for Harrah's Entertainment Inc. (HET), backed by D.E. Shaw & Co., Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. (LEH) and Wachovia Corp. (WB), according to CNBC correspondent David Faber.
The Wyomissing, Pa.-based Penn would make a bid with cash and stock, with its partners covering the cash portion of the bid in return for an equity stake, according to Faber.
Harrah's shares recently traded up 1.07 cents, or 1.4%, to $77.62.
Penn's shares recently traded down 82 cents, or 2.1%, to $37.92.
