Remember, when using a mechanical screen, just because a stock fits all the criteria, it is not a "sure thing". This is especially true with shorts where long-term holding often works against you. For shorts more than longs, time is somewhat important because you have unlimited potential for loss if the price rises. This can lead to nasty margin situations that might force you to sell before the price falls again. No point being right if you are in too early!!!

For a new investor, I would recommend puting your time and effort into finding good quality longs for a LTB&H and playing with shorts on paper until you get a REALLY good feel for them.

Just my 2 cents worth.
