MY MOTHER TAUGHT IN NEW YORK FOR FORTY YEARS AND NOW WOULD LIKE TO RETIRE IN ARIZONA. HER QUESTION IS: ARE MY RETIREMENT BENEFITS TRANSFERABLE TO THE STATE OF ARIZONA? ANYONE KNOW HOW I MIGHT FIND OUT? THANKS.

There is absolutely no reason in the world that her retirement benefits will not be payable to her should she relocate to Arizona on retirement. She will also have to pay state income taxes on those benefits only to the state of Arizona after she establishes her residency there.
