People who spoke in favor of smoking bans in public places were chastised as trampling on American freedoms, rights, the constitution, etc.

This is the way I look at it: your right to swing your arm ends where my nose begins.

Likewise, your right to blow your smoke ends where my nose begins. In this respect, conservatives/libertarians are wrong in saying their rights are trampled by a smoking ban.

However, my right to alter my consciousness in private without threat of imprisonent is, in fact, Constitutional.
