thanks so much for your reply. luckily, i was able to get out of the h&r block office before the representative could do any work on my return. we had a 1-hour discussion and i was not confident about this person's knowledge level. i paid the person $10 for her time. however, i think i will do my OWN return.

this business about the traditional to roth conversion and the non-deductible contributions was a bit foreign to me. now, i feel confident about these issues.
