Piz said, money that I earned, in willing, fair, and honest exchange for my own ability and precious time from my life that can never be replaced, is being taken from me at the point of a gun and given to others who did not earn it. I am being forced to give a portion of my life to someone else in return for nothing. Didn't that used to be called slavery? No, it is called taxation to accomplish the will of the majority. In some societies, the majority believe that people who have not saved for their old age (either through improvidence or inability) should be given a base income in their old age by that society rather than be allowed to starve. The government is the proper agent to implement the will of the society in such cases. FICA taxes are a somewhat reasonable means to finance it (personally, I feel it would be better to combine FICA and income tax into one single tax, but then, I am in the minority on this). The U.S.A. happens to be a society of that type, though a minority of its citizens do not believe it should be.Some societies do not so believe. If you move to such a country, you can avoid the tax and the benefit.America -- love it or leave it.
