Please allow me to correct my own post The schedule I had posted regarding the increased IRA limits may have been incorrect. I had referred to bill 1836 (which can be searched through www.house.gov). Apparently in the Senate/House negotiations, the final schedule was accelerated somewhat, although this isn't refected on the House site.

Since I posted the schedule in that bill, I have seen a couple references to a faster schedule by Suzi Orman on CNBC and this NY Times artcle:

The maximum will rise to $3,000 beginning next year through 2004, to $4,000 in 2005 through 2007 and then to $5,000 in 2008, and thereafter with increases for inflation in $500 increments.
