Today, I was watching a re-run of the 1990s TV sitcom, "Everybody Loves Raymond." The title character suffers a panic attack in the episode.
As I watched this, I started to google "panic attacks" and "anxiety attacks."
This is the most basic link I found that lists the symptoms and some differences between "panic attacks" and "anxiety attacks." http://panicdisorder.about.com/od/understandingpanic/a/anxvs...
After some 30 years, I just learned today that bizarre and sudden health episodes I suffered when I was younger were probably all separate episodes of full blown panic attacks.
The first panic attack (or anxiety attack) I ever experienced, I was 17 years old and in high school. At the time, I recognized it as some sort of panic attack or anxiety attack. It turned out to be one of my mildest panic attacks that I remember now.
Later episodes were much more intense and sudden onset and I thought that they were bizarre physical health issues. In hindsight, it makes sense, but each time it seemed to have occurred completely out of the blue as a physical health problem. As I read up on these with those episodes in mind, I realize I only recognized the physical manifestations of what were sometimes intense mental and emotional issues I was dealing with at that time.
How many of you have ever had panic attacks, or anxiety attacks?
Discussion please.
