I sleep on a regular full sized set of mattress/box springs.

For many years, I used a conventional frame, which held the mattresses only a few inches off the floor.

In recent years, that has made it more difficult to climb out of bed, since I was so low to the ground. Also ---- hard to clean under the bed.

Recently, I set all four corners of the frame on cement blocks, adding perhaps eight inches to the height of the mattresses. That's a huge improvement, I find.

Now, instead of struggling into a standing position, I'm fairly close to being in a standing position when my feet hit the floor. That makes getting out of bed much easier, especially if you have a sore knee or leg.

Easier to clean under as well.


Perhaps there are others that would kind this a useful strategy to try.

I even had the cement blocks handy, so it cost me nothing but the effort of wrestling around with the mattresses and cement blocks, which are fairly heavy. But cement blocks are cheap:
