prime are you trying to tell me that my 4000$ investment in tcm that is now worth 5000$ of tyco is going to be considered a capital gain?and then how am i suppose to
treat my new tyco stock? as a new purchase?,this can't be what you are telling me??
p.s. how did u vote?

I didn't take the effort to vote knowing that my vote would be meaningless.

That's right you have a capital gain of $1000 with the sale date the day the consolidation took effect, I think that was 12/18. Your new shares of TYC have will have a purchase date of the same date. I am sorry about this bad tax news, fortunately I did not have this problem as I had small loss on my TCM holdings. All this is spelled out in the proxy materials they sent us last month.
