Probate law is highly specialized. Most attorneys who specialize in this field, charge an hourly rate. This rate is dependent upon the area of the country where the decedent last resided. As Phil pointed out, if there is property in various states, this entails even more work. The estate will initially be probated where the decedent last lived, and then ancillary estates must be filed in the counties where the property is located. Be prepared. This is a lot of work on behalf of the law firm.Donna (A SC real estate paralegal)
