|The Fool:||Tell us a joke (bear in mind this is a family site.)|
185 rolls of tape walk into a bar. The bartender asks them what they'll have. They all say "Scotch".
Stop. You'll miss the humorous conclusion.
|The Fool:||What's the most overrated idea, person, or event in our culture?|
|Absynthe:||Everything and everyone, self included. We all believe that we are all more significant than we are. We're all just a virus with shoes, folks.|
|The Fool:||What was your first educational exposure to investing?|
(Absynthe makes Homer Simpson drooling noise.)
|The Fool:||What is your most distressing regret?|
|Absynthe:||I'd love to say 'no regrets', but we all know that's not true. Ranking them, however, is just too much navel-gazing for me.|
|The Fool:||What's the best advice you've ever received?|
"C'mon everybody, let's have some fun. You only live once, and when you're dead, you're done. So let the good times roll."
-- Ray Charles
|The Fool:||What's the best product you use that most people don't know about?|
|Absynthe:||The Electro-Harmonix Frequency Analyser. This guitar footpedal came out at a time when the electronics for it were still experimental, and as a result every now and then (about 1 note in 10) the intended effect doesn't work properly and you get this "skronk" note instead. Nothing on the market confuses listeners more effectively.|
|The Fool:||What's your greatest athletic achievement? Little League champ? Ran a marathon? Did 4 consecutive sit-ups?|
|Absynthe:||In college, I swam a mile in about 35 minutes -- no small feat. I also streaked the entire co-ed class, which was fun.|
|The Fool:||Is there a public figure that inspires you?|
|Absynthe:||Steve Buscemi. You see him in a movie, you know you're gonna see quality, whether for a minute or for two hours. That kind of reliability is worth noting and mimicking.|
|The Fool:||What's been your best investment to date, and how did you discover it?|
|Absynthe:||So far, SBUX. Markets overreact to bad news + solid company financials = fire sale. It's becoming a favourite investing technique.|
