The Fool: Does ethics or 'socially responsible investing' have a place in your investment approach? How so? How not?
iouern: Socially responsible investing I feel is important if that is how strongly you feel about it. As I am JUST starting out at 40 years young I will use it in my approach if I can ensure a reasonable return on my investment.
The Fool: Describe the most embarrassing personal moment you'll admit to!
iouern: Slagging off the boss at work to a co-worker and them not telling me that he had entered the room and heard what I was saying.
The Fool: Which celebrity or public figure (past or present) do you most look like?
iouern: I have been told that I look like the American movie actor Matt Dillion (Something About Mary, and many others)
The Fool: If you had to pick an existing song title that best describes your life, what would it be?
iouern: Back On Top by Van Morrison
The Fool: What has been your best work experience, and what made it so great?
iouern: Before joining British Airways World Cargo I spent twenty years in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Loadmaster. I learned all about the transportation of freight by air, which is a big and getting bigger market, plus I got the chance to travel all around the world and enjoy different places and cultures and have a better understanding of the world.
The Fool: What's your biggest pet peeve?
iouern: People who don't give an honest days work for an honest days pay. It's as if they feel that they are doing the company a favour by just showing up for work, even though they don't do half the work of some of their co-workers.
The Fool: What's the best restaurant you've ever been to? (Include name, location, and average bill for two.)
iouern: The resturant at the Grand Hotel in Brighton. An Average bill for two people including a nice bottle of wine would be 90
The Fool: What's been your best investment to date, and how did you discover it?
iouern: Just starting out and will update when I find one.
The Fool: List some of your favorite websites, with running commentary where appropriate. (Please provide the URLs, too.)
iouern: www.dead.net-the official website of the Grateful Dead
The Fool: Do you have a favorite company or stock which the worldwide Foolish community should know about -- and why?
iouern: British Airways PLC because aalthough the airline industry is a bit up and down, I feel that the company has the right business plan to stay ahead of the competition and the price is right to buy in now before the rest of the investment community catches on. They are being a bit too optimistic about the future of the company and are taking a lets sit back and see what happens approach. Don't be afraid buy in now!!!!
