Does anyone have any suggestions as to a brokerage forbeing able to buy, sell, and hold government-issued bonds and shortterm notes from various countries?Specifically, I follow US, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand,Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, UK, Switzerland, and Sweden.(Ideally I'd like to be able to go even further afieldsometimes, for example 2-year Turkish paper looks good to me right now. But,the main interest is in the big industrialized economies above).I am able to do this now with a Swiss bank account, but the transactioncosts are brutal (ticket fees, commissions, stamp tax, you name it). Some recent trades cost me 0.67% one way.I'm not a US resident, but many US-based brokerages have accountsfor non residents. (I use Schwab and Interactive Brokers for equities, for example). So, basically, I'm open to the idea of an accountanywhere in the world that will give me access to these bondsat a good quoted price, with reasonable transaction costs and tightexchange rate spreads.I'd like to trade on line, but it isn't a mandatory requirement.Suggestions welcome!Jim(normally found at the mechanical investing board)
