Yesterday Kaydon reported earnings for the third quarter ended October 2, 1999 of $13.1 million, as compared to $17.6 million in 1998's third quarter. Earnings per share totaled $.41 on a diluted basis compared to $.54 in 1998.

Sales for 1999's third quarter were $74.2 million, as compared to $92.8 million in 1998's third quarter, a decrease of 20.0 percent. The results for the quarter reflect the continuing absence of a recovery in most of the key industrial markets in which Kaydon does business.
