Maybe someone out there knows the answer to the question:

Is there anything out there comparable to an ETF (exchange traded fund) for a short term bond index, a short term government bond index, or even any short term treasury index?

SPY (S&P 500) and QQQ (Nasdaq 100) have proven to be successful as ETFs for their respective indexes and can be traded and margined at will and it seems to me that an ETF for a short term bond index might do well also. I might like to use one occasionally, however I certainly am in no way desireous of trying to start one on my own.

What I am looking for is something which might be a bit better than currently available money market funds and which might be bought and sold quickly, like a stock.

Maybe it does not presently exist, however someday it might if there is sufficient demand.

Thank you in advance for any realistic response.
