Quicken 2001, at least, will by default open at startup whatever set of Quicken data files it was using when shut down. At least on the same computer. It SHOULD work the same across a network, with or without a mapped drive letter. If it won't work even with a mapped drive letter, then programmers at Intuit put a great deal of effort into making it malfunction.

After a little investigation I have found that (at least in Q99dx) Quicken wants to open the file you had open last. However when that file is across my network it displays a blank page with only the Quicken title bar and a menu with file and help options. If I click the file menu a numbered list of files appear. Just click on the one I want and it opens.

I tried this after opening and closing several different backup files also and the #1 file is always the most recently opened.

Thanks everybody for all the helpful suggestions,
Kurt
