" I think that Hillary has done solid work in repairing some of those fissures within her support within the party, and her husband worked hard to support Obama's re-election campaign."

Bill also was criticized during the the 2008 campaign for comments he made comparing Obama to Jessie Jackson. I think that that criticism was unfounded and that Bill has always been a strong supporter of civil rights. But Bill is not Hillary.

"There will still be those who have hardened their hearts to her forever, but emotions will have cooled after six years."

No one has been reminded of what she did in 6 years. Once the "inferior Black man" tape gets replayed everyone will be reminded. As with Hillary's vote on invading Iraq, her failure to explicitly state that it was a mistake puts her behind other candidates, not ahead.

" She leads all polling among Democrats for who they'd like to see as the nominee right now."

As she did before... and lost.

"I think what's more important is whether Obama feels like playing king- or queen-maker."

1) it is unclear to me that Obama would not prefer Biden as well.
2) Even if Obama supports Hillary over Biden, Obama has been something of a disappointment for Black voters. The Obama administration's response to all of these republican block the vote initiatives has been very weak. Latinos have been disappointed as well with his failure to make much of an effort on immigration reform. It is not clear how much weight Obama brings.
