Have narrowed my decision to purchase a gently used Toyota Rav-4, maybe 2010-2011 model, under 30K miles if possible.

Searching local listings, what is the significance of "Certified Used" versus regular used. I mean, I know what it means, but is it worthwhile in any tangible sort of way and is there a premium for it? This is my first time ever to purchase a used vehicle.

Also, Edmunds says the spread on a trade in or private purchase of my existing Nissan Altima is $1,400, so perhaps I should sell it myself - unless CarMax gives more than trade in?

Also, if any one has any specific comments about the Rav-4, desired features, etc., I am interested in those comments as well.

Thanks, BFG
