"Differences are in the amount of oil and grease - and the availability of rain to rinse the stuff." - Howie

People go to stores and the Mall and walk around. As we walk around skin cells naturally slough off and get mixed with dust and dirt that exists everywhere. It floats around in the air as our shoes and fans blow it around and we breathe it in and it goes down into our lungs where it gets mixed with mucus. The villi in the lungs, small finger like projections, wave and move that mucus mixed with dirt and skin cells up the trachea and we swallow it down into our stomach it goes where it gets digested and absorbed into our body.

Everyone eats about 2 tablespoons of dirt every day and that dirt is mixed with thousands of skin cells from other people. If you have ever sat in a brightly lit room and watched the beams of sunlight and the dust in them float around you are breathing that in and skin cells stick to those particles of dust and you are eating them.

That is life and our immune system has evolved over millions of years to handle it.
