"Do not do anything in your bank accounts starting 2-3 months before applying for a mortgage." No large deposits, no large withdrawals, don't even move money from one account to another.

Kinda hared to do when it's your paycheck!

Wasn't hard to explain, but seriously, roughly the same amount was deposited every two weeks for years...and they had copies of pay stubs. Just how robotic and non-thinking does loan processing have to be?

I would love to live in a world where thinking was prized, and you were held responsible for what you signed for instead of making it the taxpayer's problem. It's beyond time we punish those who willingly misrepresent what they do, rather than hassle the whole population by trying to manage the system to avoid the possibility of cheating. It doesn't take long for those wanting to cheat to mount a new way to game the system, and in the end it's just the honest people who are hassled.
