People who own fixed income investments have done well for the last two years--especially while the Fed has been cutting interest rates. However, that does put you in a market timing situation. Long term investors generally will do better to keep buying index funds. Low prices make a great opportunity to buy. Fixed income investors will almost certainly miss the bottom. True, you can do better if you read the trends correctly, but even the pros have trouble doing that well.
