"Have sabre fencing practice..." - NO Citation

Be careful - you'll put your eye out with that thing :)

Actually, "You'll put your eye out." is a quote from a great Holiday film. trying to remember the name at this moment. After the dogs get the turkey, the scene in the Chinese restaurant that follows is great too! I think Ralph is the kid's name.

There was an accident several years ago. A fencer, a few years younger than me, used a old, somewhat rusty mask. The sabre blade went through the mask, into his mouth, through his soft palate. Blood everywhere. They wanted to call 911, he refused and drove himself to the ER about five or six miles away. - Fencers. especially sabre fencers are tough.

After that, the friendly taunt, "Eat my steel" was no longer acceptable at the club. The club also started doing a punch test on every mask at the beginning of class/bouting.
