"I am concerned about moving into bonds now because of the low yields and I expect that interest rates will rise again before long, killing the value of bonds."

A justifiable worry. We'd rather wait until yields are better before buying more bonds. I'm really happy I've been gradually adding to a bond portfolio for many years!

"How are folks dealing with these issues of low yields and price instability? Are there alternative vehicles/strategies to consider in a market like this."

I'm looking at REITS and preferred stocks. REITS of interest include
DRE and FR. Another thought is the master limited partnerships, such as CHC and some others.

It's a tough environment out there!
Best wishes, Chris
