"I do not see Boeing or Airbus buying Chinese engines to save a few bucks."

It will be extremely hard for China to break into the airplane engine business in the U.S.

I have done some work in the investment casting and abrasives business. These are the businesses that make all of the various metal parts that go into airplane engines (and other parts of the plane). It is required in these industries to be able to track every single part and the tools that touch these parts in manufacturer all the way back to the supplier. This means if you use a simple grinding mounted point to remove the excess material off of a part that just came out of a mold, you will have to track where that grinding mounted point was manufactured. The manufacturer of that grinding mounted point will have to track what batch that grinding mounted point was manufactured in, when that batch was made, who mixed the abrasive material used in that batch, who molded the abrasive in that batch, etc.

All that for a simple grinding mounted point that is used to finish the airplane part. The tracking requirements for the parts themselves are even more detailed.

That would be very hard to do in China were small suppliers come and go and the transparency is just not there and up to standards.
