"I wonder how long it will be before the cruise ship industry runs aground on high oil prices. Those ships are beautiful, but I have to suppose they will be casualties of high oil prices."Could be a problem. They get about 300 feet per gallon of fuel. That divided by maybe 1000 paying passengers....so the fuel mileage is a respectable 30,000 feet per gallon of fuel, or six miles a gallon per passenger. If they have 2000 passengers like some of the bigger ones, then 12 mpg per person per mile.....They'll just cut back on the miles on each cruise...visit fewer ports....or spend more time in each one. Did you know that Christopher Columbus got about 15,000 miles to the galleon? t.
