"It's not a safe repository of 'value'."

I couldn't agree more — there is no such thing as a safe repository of value anywhere. Take gold. Not gold futures but actual, tangible physical gold in the form of coins or bullion. Contrary to the claims of TV personalities like William Devaney, gold is not a "safe haven". Just ask those who loaded up with it when it was close to going through $2,000 an ounce. Today it's worth $1,250 an ounce. For every dollar they've earned and saved through years of hard work, and then deposited into the safe haven of gold, they now have about 62 cents.
