Lol. It's like pressing the button for an automatic door. You responded with precisely the unreasoned vitriol the OP predicted. Your prize? Further self-sanctimony, but nothing beyond that--which again leads me to suspect that's the primary goal in play here.

It amuses me to see Lincoln appropriated by members of the absolutist "me first and always" crowd. He becomes like a straw man, I suppose; never fully available to confound those who would co-opt him.
