"No way could I bring myself to retire & cut off my income stream ( I don't get a pension)while saddled with a mortgage. Even if it would have been better to keep it." - jjbklb

I don't like debt of any kind. I'm really into remaining debt free. Just gives me a feeling of freedom I suppose? I especially like the feeling of owning outright the home we are living in. It gave me a really good feeling when we paid off this house. We paid off this house 13 months after we moved in to it 10 years ago. I was so proud of us. <smile>

I am also a big proponent of having a paid off mortgage when you retire. That extra $700 bucks a month (or whatever) gives us a lot of flexibility in our finances
