Enhancements to Include Seat Selection

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 1, 2002--AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., AAI today announced new upgrades to its web site,, including the ability to select your own seat after booking.

"Our customers have made AirTran Airways a leader in online ticket sales and we're pleased to continue translating their feedback into investments in our technology," said AirTran Airways Director of Marketing Tad Hutcheson.

New features at include:

-- For certain fare classes (Y, B, M), including all Business Class fares, customers will be able to choose their own seats after completing their online reservation.

-- Customers can begin their flight search before logging into their member account. If they find a fare they like and decide to buy tickets, they will be able to log in at that point, and their account information will be pre-filled when they reach the Passenger Information page. And for customers who don't have a member account yet, they can now set up an account as part of the booking process.

-- For connecting flights, the site now displays the connection times, in addition to the initial departure time and final arrival time.

-- In all areas of the online booking engine where AirTran Airways' markets are listed, the airport code is listed along with the city name to prevent confusion.

-- For AirTran Airways' travel agency partners, agents can view a list of all AirTran Airways bookings and sort that list using different parameters, such as booking date, originating city, confirmation number and more.

"The popularity of the site is evident, as more than 40 percent of our tickets are purchased there," said President and Chief Operating Officer Robert Fornaro. "Its ease of use and design appeals to both business and leisure travelers and these updates make online booking even smoother, providing an enjoyable experience for our customers and a strong distribution channel for the company."
