To go outside your question a bit, you might want to take a chunk or your portfolio (maybe 50%) and invest in dividend paying companies. Especially those that increase their dividends regularly. You can easily build a portfolio that returns around 5% and be "conservatively" invested.


Yeah, like General Motors, General Electric, BP, etc.
