"String theory not only makes no predictions about physical phenomena at experimentally accessible energies,...Which may be partly why it's falling out of favor (last I knew - this is outside my field so I don't track it beyond the occasional article).Though just recently I heard idle chatter about creating a new collider with a circumference of over 100 km (the LHC is only about 27 km). Perhaps to make those energies accessible?? Not sure. But that does make them in principle testable. Just as the Higgs was for 50 years until we finally built the LHC (after Reagan scrapped the SSC...dork...).
