"Take Art's comments with a grain of salt. He retired, his wife still works, he is a kept house husband. I wish I could strike that deal ;)
I'm in the same boat as you with one kicker, DW is wanting to retire too. We have enough money saved, it basically comes down to the life style we want. And there is also the great unknown plus the next 40-50 years (we both come from good stock)." - JLC

My wife bought a new car today. It's a Silver 2013 Toyota Camry Luxury edition with leather seats, bluetooth, back up camera, power everything, wood trim, sycn'ed with her I-phone, GPS, power windows, locks, etc., with 43 miles on it. It's got pretty much everything on it that you can think of. It was $30,807 out the door. She wrote a check. She's also keeping her old Corolla for sentimental reasons.

We also bought a new 4.5 cubic foot Maytag washer today a Lowes. It's got a glass lid so you can see your clothes washing, etc. Super fancy-shmancy. They are delivering it on Tuesday.

I don't know what I did to deserve what I got. I guess I just married well.
