"Thin sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, I think they had thousand island dressing, on toasted rye bread (since it was a large scale church function - buttered and oven toasted.) Served with cabbage soup, cole slaw, pickles, and brownies. Plus all the free beer/soda/mixed drinks you wanted. They were really good sandwiches! Always " ;-)Hunzi

And interesting aside, Jewish people don't mix meat and dairy products so their Reubens don't have cheese on them. There is a verse in the old Testament that says "though shalt not drown a calf in it's mother's milk" and so some Jews take so far as to mean that you shouldn't eat dairy and meat together.

I'm betting that verse in the old testament got in there because ancient Hindus had a sacrificial ceremony where they'd drown a calf in it's mother's milk and then roast it and eat it. So Old Testament time Jews were trying to keep from worshipping foreign gods.
